Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a comfortable wingback armchair, rain softly hitting the windows. Old leather, older paper, and a silence thick enough to write in.

Fragrance Notes

Fresh hay, tobacco leaf, oudh & leather

Rain finds the north window first and works its way round the house from there. The shelves run to the ceiling, and the ladder has been left where somebody last needed it: three shelves up, in a section nobody ever finished cataloguing. Books hold their own weather. Open one that has sat here long enough and the whole room comes out of it.

A library at night. Floor-to-ceiling shelves with a rolling ladder, a lit brass lamp, and loose papers across the rug. Through the arched window, a crescent moon.
