Privacy

What we collect

If you place an order, we collect your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number if you give one, and what you ordered. We do not see or store your full card number. Payment is handled by Shopify and its payment partners.

If you claim a room on the waitlist, we collect your email address, which room you claimed, and a record that you agreed to hear from us, with the date and time.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. When you submit the waitlist form, your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit how often the form can be submitted, and is discarded within about a minute.

Cookies

Our own website does not use analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels or session recording, and we do not build a profile of what you look at. It sets one functional cookie, and only when you add something to your cart: it remembers your cart for up to ten days, so it is still there when you come back.

Shopify, which runs our checkout, also uses cookies to keep your checkout working and to give us basic sales reports. The private area we use to edit the site's words sets a login cookie, but only for us.

Why we collect it

To take payment and deliver your order, to contact you about it, to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations, and to tell you when a room you claimed is available. We write rarely, and only about Greenwick. We send marketing email only to people who have asked for it, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Where your information goes

Shopify processes our orders and payments. It is based in Canada and stores data in several countries, including the United States.

Australia Post receives the name and address on your order, and your phone number and email address where you gave them, so that it can deliver your parcel.

Klaviyo, Inc. handles our mailing list and stores your email address and room preference. Klaviyo is based in the United States.

Our website is hosted by a third-party provider whose servers may also be located outside Australia.

This means your information may be disclosed to, and held by, organisations overseas, including in Canada and the United States, under the laws of those countries. We do not sell your information, and we disclose it to no one else except where the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for at least five years, because tax law requires us to. Waitlist details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Getting it back, or getting rid of it

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link, which stops us contacting you immediately.

You can also ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to greenwickau@gmail.com and we will action it within a reasonable time. There is no charge and you do not have to give a reason. We may need to keep order records even if you ask us to delete the rest, because tax law requires it.

Security

Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment partners, not by us. Access to our mailing list and our store is restricted, and the credentials our website uses are held on the server and never sent to your browser. No system is perfect, and we will tell you if something happens that affects you.

If you are unhappy

Please write to us first at greenwickau@gmail.com. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, which oversees the Privacy Act 1988.

Changes

If we start collecting something new, this page changes first and the date at the bottom changes with it.
